Electric Seam Ripper to the Rescue!

Electric Seam Ripper

Electric Seam Ripper

This new NOTION was all the buzz at the recent BERNINA UNIVERSITY at my distributor’s booth.  I sure wish I’d had one when I was creating with machine embroidery for the first time in 10 years over the last month or so!!!  For the first 20 customers with minimum $30 orders at my website to order this product, Electric Seam Ripper AND who input the Discount Code of:  ripitquik in the discount coupon code on their order form – will save 20% !!!  The low regular price is $18.99 so 20% off makes is just $15.19!  This offer is valid July 9 – 11, 2013.

Below, you can see the jacket I created by embroidering directly onto the sweatshirt fleece after I thought I had perfectly placed the array of pink ribbons on the right side to match the left side…..NOT!  If I had had this gizmo, I wouldn’t have been so mortified….  As it turned out, I decided to couch yarns around on the jacket to ‘disguise’ the mis-placement, but ultimately ‘skinned the cat’ a different way. This jacket really follows the ‘Rachel’ jacket in my book, Creative Sweatshirt Jackets, Londa’s Way – Book 2.  The collar is the lower ribbing with lettuce edging worked on the serger with the variegated thread in the Lilac Oliver Twist thread/yarn collection.   The center front and sleeve edges are finished by stabilizing first on the OUTSIDE with Straight Fusible Stay Tape, then turning the edge 2 times towards the OUTSIDE and invisibly stitching with invisible thread.  If you have trouble stitching with invisible monofilament thread,  then try the NEW non-breakable monofilament from Mettler:  Transfil.

There is a similar 20% discount available to the first 20 people ordering Transfil July 9 – 11, but you’ll have to click over to my FACEBOOK page for that Discount Coupon Code!

After ‘tacking’ down the fold to the outside of the jacket with monofilament thread, I then poked holes in the sweatshirt with an Awl, (or with a nail, block of wood, and a hammer!) and then ‘whipped’ the edges through those holes with 1 3/4″ wide strips of BIAS cut silk dupioni.
