A friend that travels internationally a lot shared with me her travel wallet back in January – citing that men have their wallets ON them – which makes for EZ identification in case of disaster or medical need. However, us women lug around a purse. Think of the AMTRAK disaster of last night – have you heard of all the purses flying around? On top of all the stress, many of these gals don’t have their ID – think of the added complication that meant for treatment, identification of the seriously wounded . . . . . I’d considered it strongly for when flying or any public transportation. Think of it: in a disaster – are you gonna grab your purse??? NO!
That all being said – I took many photos and measurements and notes of my friend, JoAnn’s wallet that she wears slung around her body diagonally while traveling, and vowed to do the same. Here’s a few pictures of her wallet.
Left inside for credit card holder.
Right inside for pouch of her jewelry
Outside for her cellphone.
I decided to create mine from old jeans – feeling that would ‘go’ with everything. In retrospect, I think the jeans is too heavy. JoAnn’s is of a ripstop nylon type fabric – a bette choice i feel.
Outside view of my Travel Wallet. Cellphone goes in this outside pockets – sized for my IPhone 6+.
I lined the strap and made sections of the inside lining from a yarn-dyed plaid fabric to decrease the bulk instead of additional layers of denim.
You can see that I did use the classic heavy gold thread – Jeans Stitch with a 90 TopStitch Needle for the topstitching.
This photo shows the 3 section design. center portion holds a pen small notebook, etc.
The design is a tri-fold. It was all sized to work with my cellphone. See caption for more details.
Design according to your needs. Sections 1 and center both have a separate zip.
Note the inside of the center section includes spot for a pen and small tablet of paper. Left and center portions have separate zippers. AND dffdvsf
