Minkee Pillows w/ Bella - my favorite Feline Friend!

Obviously created with our great University of Illinois Colors of Orange and Blue .... I cut 6"squares out of leftovers from my creation of garments for my www.londas-illiniwear creative wearables side  business.  Actually, during that final NCAA game, I 'petted' each square and put a pin in at the top of each to determine the nap.  (If I petted down and it was smooth - the pin went in at the top of that direction.)

Then, I alternated the direction of the nap as I pieced these squares into a 9 patch.  The 'furry' yarn is the commonly available Fun Fur from Lion Brand Yarns.  I generally use 2 strands - and making sure that as I pull down on the yarn, it is 'Fuzzy' - (not smooth!) and with clear YLI Monofilament thread in the needle of my machine, tension lowered a bit, and a zig zag of about 3 long and 2 wide - I couch it down.

Once I had the tops pieced (backs of each are the dimpled Minkee - no, the orange Minkee is NOT available for sale - I hoard it for my Illini Wear! - I angle in each corner to a point 1/2" from the corner - in a smooth arc from the center of each side.  I also do this on the Back of the pillow.  Doing this prevents the 'dog-eared loving hands made at home look'.  I took about 1/2" seam allowances throughout - and used a 14" pillow form.  I generally cut my squares the SAME size as the pillow form I will use - NOT larger!
