Now... onto News about Londa's website business:

              1.  Sewing Camp for Kids met in June, then July 19-23.  My final week of Sewing Camp will be next week, August 2-6.  All slots are full and I've got a couple of repeaters already.  When they agree that a Fabric Store is akin to a candy store - I feel I've achieved my goal.   I've been sharing FREE my projects in case you have a young one in your family with whom you'd like to share your love of sewing...

For Electronic Delivery absolutely FREE:, just send me an email requesting the Starter Curriculum.  LondaSews@myexcel.com

For a printed version - for just $5.95 shipping:  click here http://webstore.quiltropolis.net/stores_app/Browse_Item_Details.asp?Store_id=398&page_id=23&Item_ID=3739

                   2. I attended  HomeMaker's Craft Camp along with about 180 other women (ages 21 - 92!) from all over the state and as far away as Utah and Kansas for 4 days and 3 nights of crazy female silliness, wisdom, eating (meals prepared), and non-stop crafting and sewing.  This is a 50+ year tradition here in central Illinois at the local 4-H Camp where mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends gather each year late in July.  It is usually devillishly hot, but this year the weather was beautiful.  We stitched and gabbed til late, late in the night.  Here  is a picture of some of us "Sewing Fools."

I taught some classes, including Fabric Bowls and my Creative Sweatshirt Jackets.    For my class on Fabric Bowls, I ordered in everything needed, which I've now put together into Kits to make these popular new Fabric Bowls with that great stiffener, TimTex.  Here is my favorite bowl so far:       I think these will make great gifts - and they are really quite quick and EZ.    Get going on them NOW for gift-giving season that will here before you can wink!

My Fabric Bowl Kit includes

Fabric Bowls Book,  1/2 yard TimTex, 2/3 yard Heat n' Bond Lite, Pack of Schmetz Mictrotex Needles Size 80, and an Open Toe Applique Foot (VERY helpful!) for your type of machine (low, high or slant shank).  Cost of this Kit is $32.04.  When you order it, put in this coupon code

                   LCTBOWLNLSPCL

when you check out and you will receive the discounted price of just $24.99.  This offer is good through the month of August.  Find these kits in my BOOKS department.   The only things you need to provide then are the fabric and thread and embellishment (if desired).

If you don't know what type of shank your machine has, this is an important thing to know.  Email me at Londasews@myexcel.com and let me know your make and model of machine, and I can tell you your shank type.  You'll need to order the kit specific for your machine so that you get the right Open Toe Applique Foot.  This is a wonderful foot you'll just LOVE whenever you do embroidery or applique work.

                  3.  Mid July found me snooping out New creative sewing stuff at the big craft market, ACCI in Chicago.   My little sister lives up there and came along.  We had great fun.  Here are some of my finds...

  • Butterfly Loom -  a wonderful adaptation of an age-old craft a sweet lady from New Zealand had done from something her Grandmother had taught her years ago.  I immediately saw quick production possibilities for collars and cuffs on my Creative Sweatshirt Jackets.

I can now make one of these squares - approximately 8", in just 10 minutes or less!  Here is where you can find these neat gizmos on my site:            http://webstore.quiltropolis.net/stores_app/Browse_Item_Details.asp?Store_id=398&page_id=23&Item_ID=3786

  • Fiberccino Cups:  cups full of scrumptious (calorie-free) color-coordinated yarns.  I immediately envisioned these all couched around on the Authentic Pigment Sweatshirts as I re-create them into one-of-a-kind Creative Sweatshirt Jackets.  The gal who creates these said she had just had wild reaction to these at the Bernina University.  I can believe it:  her booth was crazy busy with people constantly.

Find these in 9 different colors on my site under the ever-expanding Embellishments Department.  http://webstore.quiltropolis.net/stores_app/Browse_dept_items.asp?Page_Id=17&categ_id=8&parent_ids=0

  • Ribbons, Ribbons, and more Ribbons and Trims... Again, in the Embellishments Department.  I weakened and ordered 12 or so different ribbons - again, with the Authentic Pigment Sweatshirt colors in mind.  Find them in the department as listed above.

  • Swarovski Crystals and Kandi's Lorna Heat-Set Decorative Wand tool to melt the glue on back and secure them easily forever on anything.  All have arrived, and, again - can be found in the Embellishments Department.  You'll find my prices VERY good on these Swarovski Crystals.
