Lines from Londa

February 11, 2005
Here in Central Illinois, Spring is
trying VERY hard to burst out...the flowers
are even poking out through the snow in my front
flower beds: Yea!!! That is probably what has
inspired me to upload most of the new fabrics on
their way in over the next 3 weeks. You can find
them all in this department:
http://www.londas-sewing.com/nl.asp?p=0&c=212

Their imminent
arrival has also inspired me to check the FREE
SHIPPING box on the following
fabrics that just want to be 'adopted' by some of
you! Here is a quick listing where you can see the
available yardage, the Valentines
Day SAVINGS,
and a pattern suggestion from my imagination. With
FREE SHIPPING on these items
(through Feb. 28, 2005) , they're bound to go fast.
(If you order mainly fabric, and anything else
can go into the box without adding significant
weight, know I'll be more than fair ad send a rebate
check along for what freight might have gotten added
to your order.)
52" wide

Picture a Kimono
Jacket or vest from Purrfection Artistic Wearables!

The green
solid is a soft, lightweight wool, marked down 65%
making it just $5.23/yard
The
scrumptious herringbone is 55% off - so just
$6.73/yard! Eeeeeks........58" wide.
-
Olive Plain Knit and
Olive Sweater Knit are what I combined
for my most recent 'creation' using Loes
Hinse's Sweater Coat. I have my Londa's 2 Cents
Worth all done on it - and my Fashion Club
Members have recently received that 2 Cents
Worth AND one on Zipper Jacket! I'm 'on a roll'
with my Londa's 2 Cents Worth. Sew...for a
'steady stream' of them, AND 1/2 off shipping on
any orders over $25 join my
Londa's Fashion Club.

Olive Plain Knit
is just $4.17/yard on sale - 58" wide.
The Sweater Knit
is $5.37/yard on sale and has more
'texture' to it. These would make a great Sweater
Set from Loes Hinse as well. Not bright - but then
there are days we just want to 'be' - not 'say'
anything with our clothes...
-
$5.98/yard for this wonderful
hunk of poncho-perfect plaid...and
only 4 1/8 yards left...
-
Gray Wave
Knit
is 50% off and 62" wide. EZ care polyester. It
would be dynamite in Textiile Studio's Monaco
Shell lengthened into a dress (I just did that for
underneath that Sweater Coat - the simplest and
quickest knit dress I think I've ever whipped
up...). There would still be plenty left of the 4
3/8 yd left to make a shell you'e wear under
everything - AND a Sweater Jacket. Think how
classic it would look with pearls - or really jazz
it up with a colorful silk scarf!
-
Brown Cream Reversible Knit
is now just $5.98/yard and there is just 3.25 yard
remnant hunk left. At 54" wide - this could be
just what you need to work that travel wardrobe
around. Think serged edges - how about getting
wild and fashionable and do the serging in a
Bright Pink or Aqua??? Then make the garment -
and it will be reversible! No one will ever
believe you made it!
-
If a Bridal Gown is
in your future ... 'steal' this silk imitation
Satin - in polyster:
Starlite Duchess Satin
in Ivory for just $7.77/yard. This
is what I created my DD's gown from last
year. There are 10 3/4 yards left.
-
Lastly, that
travelling-wonderful
"Slinky Knit"
is available in this lovely heathery dark maroon
color... It is marked down 50% so just $7.25/yard
and 54" wide.

My
thread stash
is finally starting to run dry!
I don't know about you, but that
drives me crazy!!!!
I'll never forget
when I was learning to sew, I was a teenager and we
lived almost 'downtown' and the fabric store was
just down the alley. My mother would always say"
I'm sure we have thread that color" when I was
buying fabric. So... home we'd go with the fabric,
and no thread. Sure enough...when I had time to sew
- guess what? I ran out of thread - or the one we
had was not the right color! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then, back down the alley I would have to trot!
Time is too precious
these days! Thread is much, much more expensive -
but Oh, so important!
On my site -
under
Thread - I offer all the
weights of cotton Mettler thread,
and polyester Metrosene. Since I don't want to tie
up my inventory dollars in thread (fabric is much
more fun), I offer it in FULL BOXES of 5 of a
single color. There is a link in each description
to the Color Charts at American & Efird (the company
who imports Mettler). In the past, I have offered
it at a discount -
but
through the end of February, I've marked it
20% off
Perhaps you prefer
Guterman or some other brand. I
will give you the same 20% off deal on a full box of
the same color.
Just email me at
Londasews@insightbb.com
and tell me exactly
what you want, and I will get a price and get back
to you pronto. This applies to ANY thread -
even quilting, decorative, etc. If I can
get it (and there are VERY few that I couldn't get),
and you will buy a FULL BOX of the same color, the
deal is 20% off through the end of February, 2005!
Allow at the most 10 days for delivery. I order
from my main supplier several times a week and get
next day service, so I'm happy to do this for you.
Did you
know??? All Schmetz Needles at my site are
ALWAYS
drastically reduced in price! For
example,
Universal -
pack of 5 needles - sell for $2.99 but mine are just
$1.79
Jeans/Denim -
pack of 5 needles - regularly $4.39 - mine are just
$2.63
Quilting -
pack of 5 - regularly $4.99 - mine are $3.49
you get the idea!
Sew... when you're
ordering, always check your needle supply.
I'm AVID about using
the correct thread and needle when I sew!!!! Here
is a link to an article I've written that I
shared in the Pattern Review Newsletter. Click on
the title below and you will zap right over to it at

Another thing I'm AVID about is
INTERFACING!
I have an
ONLINE CLASS coming up: Interfacing
De-Mystified. It starts March 20. For
just $10 you can also get a KIT which includes
samples of all my favorite interfacings.
For students, all
those interfacings will have a nice discount during
the class.

I'm about to launch
back into the creation of my Creative
Sweatshirt Jackets again - gearing up for
sales at Spring Fine Arts Festivals, and sales at my
wearables sites:

and (new)
http://www.londas-illiniwear.com

This one was my Mother's Christmas
Present!
I have an
ONLINE CLASS
starting for those too: It begins
pretty quickly - March 5. Kits are available. I
LOVE to put together kits for you - according to
your color direction.
Consider signing up
for one or both of these classes. Please sign up
at my site (it helps me
out!). You can read the great reviews they have
gotten at PatternReview.com. I highly recommend

I've 'rattled' on
long enough - but I love taking a day to write these
newsletters that I sincerely hope give you
* creative sewing
inspiration * $-saving offers
*
useful information to help you enjoy your passion of
sewing even more
Just maybe - by the
time you hear from me again, I'll be a first time
GRANDMA! Our "Cole Taylor" is kicking like crazy
lately. As if that weren't enough, my DD and her
hubby just went and got a DOG the other day too. On
top of their first house they moved into a month or
so ago...it's never dull around here!
Our University of
Illinois Fighting
Illini
basketball team is the ONLY undefeated team
in the nation - and we're bound for the Final Four
and NCAA Championship - so things are pretty
Orange
and crazy iin this town (Champaign-Urbana). Hence
the inspiration for my new website for orange
wearables:
www.londas-illiniwear.com. GO ILLINI!
As always,
Sewing Hugs,
