SHARING...

Enjoyed a long weekend away with my Hubby in the Paducah, KY area at a delightful B&B - Wildflower Inn in Calvert City.  Pansies adorning grapefruit as a first course Breakfast - in a beautiful room with God's glorious handiwork as the scenery - ahhhhhhhhhhh.  The aroma of honeysuckle vine permeated the Kentucky air - a truly wonderful experience!  Now...if I just had those great typewriter key earrings I treated myself to.  Ever buy something just to misplace it before you ever get to enjoy it??  Grrr....

Father's Day Hint -  Buy a GPS for your travels!  Diane, one of my assistants at Puyallup, recommended I invest in one - and I declare - that's the best toy I EVER bought for myself!!!  Talk about the solution for arguments over which direction to go and when to stop and ask for directions!!!!!!!!!!!   AND - it's even a woman's voice on my Garmin.  Got it for about $250 at Best Buy.  It's also a great tool for me as I travel around on my own to these shows.  Love, love, love it!!!  Thanks, Thanks, Thanks, Diane, for that recommendation!!

Benevolent Spirit - Miracles in Action is my new on-going 'sewing-related' cause to support with a tithe of my own Creative Sweatshirt Jacket Sales.  Click on that link to read all about it - but in their Vocational Program, $125 will buy a sewing machine that one of their students can make a living with in this poor village of Guatemela.   They attend sewing classes - 2 times a week, three hours a session for 3 months.  After that class, they can then participate in the next 3 month course for graduations.  On completion of THAT course, they receive a sewing machine at a very low cost.  Money received for the sewing machines goes back to the class to pay for the teacher's wages and the materials they need.  This is a 501c3 nonprofit, run entirely by volunteers, so 100% of your donation goes to the projects.    Jan Jantzen is the contact, and woman pictured with these proud students.   I'll be getting more info about exactly what they can use in the way of notions, etc., but look forward to hearing about ways we can work together to support this wonderful effort.

And - for a 'closer to home' need and great effort - consider this cause to which to donate... I received this email from Sharolyn...

"We would like to make and send quilts to Parkersburg, Iowa for the homeless people.  IF you can not make a quilt would you like to help by buying 100% cotton fabric and donate for us to make quilts???  CALLING all quilters!!   My quilt guild is going to send quilts to the homeless people in Parkersburg, Iowa.   They were hit hard from that tornado Sunday night....May 25.  I feel so bad for those people.  We have a friend and his sister lives there.  Her home was missed but her neighbors was hit.  And over 200 homes gone and more homes a mess.  IF you can help please let me know. "

They will gladly receive any 1 - 5 yard pieces of 100% cotton fabric and/or batting.  BUT - they need them QUICKLY - like within the next week.  Please email ME at londa@londas-sewing.com and I'll forward to Sharolyn what you're sending.    Send supplies directly to Sharolyn SOON at the address below.

Earthquake Safety Tips - Big news here in central Illinois about 6 weeks ago was the earthquake!  Surely gives us a heart for what those in Central China are going through...    It seems God puts us in our place frequently with the power of nature - but He also gives us intelligence through others on how we can best protect ourselves during disasters.  I've posted the entire Tips sheet HERE, but for a 'taste' read these first 2 tips...

1) Most everyone who simply "ducks and covers" WHEN BUILDINGS COLLAPSE are crushed to death. People who get under objects, like desks or cars, are crushed.

2) Cats, dogs and babies often naturally curl up in the fetal position.  You should too in an earthquake.. It is a natural safety/survival
instinct. You can survive in a smaller void. Get next to an object, next to a sofa, next to a large bulky object that will compress slightly but leave a void next to it.

Vacation Opportunities - With my travels on business to sewing shows, and my hubby loving to accompany me during his available vacation time, we find ourselves in possession of banked TimeShare vacation time that we can't use ourselves right now.  Sew... I'm looking for some lucky people who would rent what we have available.  This is for a luxury condominium, not just a hotel - for a 1 bedroom that sleeps up to 6 people.  Anywhere in the world...just $850.

 We work this way:
Let me know if this is something you'd like to pursue.  Email:  londa@londas-sewing.com

'To Die For' CheesecakeMy brother-in-law, Bruce,  has delighted us with this scrumptious concoction - sew... I wanted to share it with you in time for all the summer entertaining, gatherings, etc. that the season brings...  Included are ALL his hints to make it absolute perfection!!!

I learned YEARS ago that sewing hours and hours like the gal in photo #1 would KILL my back!  So I treated myself to a Tiltable - which I then dropped dragging it from home to the shop and back - Duct Taped together for use for the last 5 years or so!  Sew... recently, at a show, I found this wonderful product AGAIN, and added the Foot Pedal solution - SEW NOW - I sit erect (photo #2) AND don't chase my pedal any longer.  Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Promised - NEW Pattern from Londa - Expected birthdate is late June - perhaps she will be premature - who knows?  I just finished this little 'extra' - a little girl's rendition of this design - for Creative Needle Magazine's holiday issue.  It will be a BONUS in this pattern.
