Sweatshirts

Top Quality Sweatshirts of 80% cotton 20% polyester that I (Londa) recommend.  The high percentage of cotton yields a thick, beefy quality that can easily be steamed and shaped, and the polyester adds some needed stability.  All styles feature a bottom band that is always removed and frequently used in my creative jackets as collars and neckline finishes.  Click HERE for finished garment measurements, but please realize that because these are made in foreign factories, there is NO real continuity in the measurements!!!!!  Just a fact of life.  

Regarding companies and dyes:

1.  Authentic Pigment Brand - made in CHINA.  The colors are NOT consistent!!!  Especially according to our discriminating sewers' eyes!  MUST be washed - not because they will shrink, but because the dye WILL CROCK OFF on your hands and your sewing machine bed!

2.  USA Comfort Color Brand - made in India or Pakistan, but DYED IN THE USA!   Yeahhh!!!  The dyes ARE consistently the same.  The crocking problem shared above does NOT exist with this brand.  They use 2 methods of dyeing - Pigment Dye (garment dyed after it is made) and Direct/Reactive dye - which they tell me (and I agree) is a much more clear, stable dye process. 

Regarding SIZE to order...

If using my Method 1 of fitting - where the excess sloppiness of the sweatshirt is removed from UNDER the arm, and the sleeve-to-body seam STAYS in the dropped position:  Order a sweatshirt big enough to go around your largest part.  This is found in my Book 2 and all patterns EXCEPT Genesis Too­ and Refined Too™

If using my Method 2 of fitting - where you 'see' the sweatshirt as 'fabric and matching ribbing' - buy a 2XL (generously sized body?  - Order 3XL USA Comfort Color Brand).  You will cut the sweatshirt apart, re-cut using my pattern (as in my Book 2, or Refined Too™ or Genesis Too™ - or a pattern of YOURS that fits you), then embellish, then put it back together - giving you a sleeve to body seam at the natural shoulder.

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING DELIVERY  PLEASE READ BEFORE ORDERING!

STOCK of sweatshirt constantly changes.  In order to keep my prices lower than the regular $32.95 I must restrict my orders to -1-2 times per month for each company due to excessive shipping expense - thanks to rising fuel prices.  That means that there are times you may have to wait up to 3-4  weeks to receive your ordered sweatshirt even though I have bins full of sweatshirts here in my 'studio'. This is especially true for 3XL.  There are times even that your order must be specially dyed as it is out of stock at my supplier.   I will let you know if your order is delayed.  

Regrettably, my shopping cart system charges when the order is placed - at which time my fee for your charge is assessed as well.  It would add significantly for me to void (which costs me as well!) and then recharge your order when the sweatshirt is shipped, therefore there is no way I can do that and keep the cost at $28.95.  SEW...when you order, you are charged.  Please understand that.
