Labor Day Weekend...first of all, if you're traveling - be safe!  This weekend always brings back memories of my daughters' arrival.  Hear all about that at the Video Email HERE, or at the side of my website home page.  It's quite a story - and how I started right out stitchin' up a storm for my little girl!  To celebrate, there is a

10% savings for you on everything in the Baby & Children Department at my site.

Good through midnight, Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010.
I LOVE the Chakoner!!!  I showed on the video email how you must remove the parafin that covers the wheel in order for it to work properly.  Lasts forever - so if you get the Chakoner + Refill - you'll be set for quite awhile.  Not cheap - but worth every penny.
I've put it on sale for you... instead of $16.00 for the tool and the refill- it's just $14.75.

Ahhh - the SAGA of creative product production.  Believe me, I may never have gone through birthing a baby - but with every product I design, write, and produce, I feel like I give 'birth'!  Some labors are harder than others - and these last 2 have had very very long labors.  I thought you might find it interesting - some of the 'background story' that goes into 'producing'.  At least with my products, the cost is primarily at the beginning - unlike with children, the costs only increase!

  • Creative Jacket Journey DVD - all is proofed at the duplication service, and they are now producing - and promise it on my doorstep by Sept. 16.   Thanks to so many of you who have pre-ordered!  Count on a little gift as my thanks for your patience along with delivery of your DVD.  Sew.......... here's in a nutshell the 'saga' - .....  Of course, we filmed it all at once - bouncing from my green jacket to Gloria's blue jacket - on and on.  BUT, everything was at least 'in sequence'.   Well - when they got 'separated' - into jackets, the sequencing went bye bye.  Sew - that was quite a challenge.  Doing and re-doing.  Hadn't counted on that!  Then some equipment failure in the editing process put it behind again.  Nonetheless - it is...4 hours and 46 minutes long!  Contains TWO discs - one for each jacket!  Here are the jackets -

The green jacket - called 'Harmony' utilizes my Worthy™ pattern and fitting done under the arm - keeping the sleeve in dropped position.  The Blue jacket - called 'Triumph' is my friend Gloria's creation - utilizing my Genesis Too™ pattern and teaches re-cutting with that pattern so that the sleeve seam is up on the natural shoulder line.  You can stitch along with us - but having the pattern available as well would be a great benefit and will give you lots more options.  Sew.... here are some new 'specials' I've created.  If you've already pre-ordered the  DVD - and want to take advantage of any of these specials, please go ahead and place your order and either email me or make a comment with your order number for the DVD in the Comments Section of the order form, and I'll make an appropriate refund with your new order.
Obviously, any of these specials will be shipped with the DVD when it arrives.

Add 1 each of the Fusible Stay Tapes to the above - regular $106.85 - for $89.00

Other Special Combinations as I offer at the shows include those below - saving you anywhere from 15-25%!  As above, each title is a link to that product - just click on it...

  • Refinedâ„¢ Talking Pattern...first, I designed and made 3 NEW jackets following the directions (pretty much) from the existing Refined pattern.  You can read more about that process at my Blog posts...  Having 'refined' my process, I generally take almost 100 photos for each jacket's creation - versus 25 or so when I started this all...  Then, I wrote the directions, or 'refined' the existing directions, meshing in new stuff, and THEN I recorded the oral directions for each jacket.  All 336 photos had to be sequenced, labeled, and put into albums on Picasa.  THEN, I scheduled and shot jackets in a professional photo session - hence they are on my body 'filling' them out instead of pins and tissue on a mannequin.    THEN.... yesterday I went to check the albums and they were all messed up - missing photos, all out of order - I don't know what gremlin attacked them - but that took all of yesterday and half of today to 'fix'.  After many re-writes, it all got sent to the printer, and after 2 rounds of proofing, I think they're ready to print next week.  My webmaster son holds my hand through all this - and is, as I write, loading all the photos and audio on a little thumb drive, and he'll do his magic to transform it all into the form you see online as the 'Talking Pattern'.

Along those lines - let me explain the 'value' that still lies in the 'old' or 1st Edition of my patterns (limited quantities on SALE as given below).  When I improve a design from it's first format to the new patent-pending Talking Pattern™ format - I also re-write the directions, improving them, AND add the most important photographs of the process into the printed booklet (and pdf version if that is available and you order that format, printing it on your own paper with your own ink...).  The idea here is that by including the most important photos, that the printed booklet 'stands on its own' and is 'complete' even without internet access.  However, internet access definitely adds to the value - since it is there that all the EXTRA photos reside, in addition to all the audio of my tallking you through each and every step.  So - if you purchase an 'old' pattern, or have one from when they first came out - you now have access to the NEW version - all the talking™ part - AND all the new photos.  I hope that clarifies it all for you.  That being said, below find a list and links to the 'old', first editions of patterns that I still have left.  I just can't make myself toss them - I'm too 'German' for that! I realize this makes sense to me, and if it is still unclear to you - just give me a call.

  • Creative Sewing Get-Away Weekend  May 12-15, 2011 is off to a great start!   I already have quite a few firm registrants - coming from Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, Missouri and Illinois.  The wonderful quilt shop/Retreat Center Threads of Time in Danville seems to have a wonderful reputation already - I visited there on the way to the Inaugural Indianapolis Sewing Expo last weekend - which wonderful too,by the way - that ASG chapter did a GREAT JOB!   There are 15 spaces left at the lower price of just $299 (plus food) - so consider joining us.  $100 can hold your seat.  Details are HERE.   More about this later - but just suffice to say it will be all creative sewing - you can do ANYTHING you so desire - and I'll be there to help you out with the creative part.  I also plan to have Gloria as my assistant - and perhaps a quilting expert there also.   I've already started a list of mini-lessons I"ll teach throughout each of the sewing days...Already can't wait!
  • Customer Jacket Gallery - I have some photos of jackets you've created - but I'm seeking MORE.  I want to get this gallery up and running here at the website by the time I start off on travels again (Sept. 21) - so please send me photos!  Digital via email attachments is the very best if possible.  Even if you already sent to me - if you can do it again, it would make things simple!  You have no idea what a mess all the photos on my computer are in!  I'll thank anyone sending photos by Sept. 15 with a $10 Gift Certificate!

Travel safe - and enjoy this last 'summer' weekend.  I hope to see you at upcoming shows in Novi, Mi, Chantilly, VA, Kansas City, and Houston.
