I personally love the Clover 2501 pins - 1.5" long, .5mm diameter - fine, yet strong enough for the sweatshirt fleece and embellishment sewing that I'm always doing. Yet, I can use them on silk as well. If you want the finest pin ever - I recommend Clover 2507 - which is an eensy .4 mm wide, still 1.5" long, and a glass head pin.
