On the Road Again...since
early September, I have been traveling to teach and vend at shows in
Rantoul, IL;, Chantilly, VA; Houston, TX; and to teach a workshop for
the Cincinnati American Sewing Guild. Â Toss in moving my parents with
family help to a great assisted living situation, and I'm VERY happy to
be home and writing a newsletter!
I
taught my wonderful hubby to fill orders, so depending on where
inventory was located, we've been able to manage keeping the website
going. Travels were good with wonderful help from assistants Cyndi,
Gloria, Laurie, Pat and Glenda. Gorgeous scenery and good weather has
made travel in my trusty 'Barney' van a treat. I am very, very
blessed. My calendar for 2010 is about finalized with 16 or so
engagements and/or shows, so watch for it on my website real soon and
try to come visit me personally somewhere, sometime in 2010! The
hands-on workshops some guilds schedule are extra special fun!!! Need
a program for 2011? Call me!
Along the way...it seems apparent that God taught me lessons in PATIENCE...AND how very, very valuable Top SERVICE is! Â For example... Service is NOT - Comcast
taking over 3 days to figure out that though it looked like my emails
were sent and received, they really were NOT because I had put the url
of my site and blog into the 'signature' at the bottom of my emails!
- Verizon taking a full 30 days to get phone service set up at my folks' new living situation.
- Replacement
Credit Card Machines NOT being sent to me at Houston - the largest show
of the year - despite promises THREE times that I'd have one the next
day!Wow - am I ever grateful for honest customers!Â
I learned...to go immediately to the top-most supervisor you can get hold of - at the FIRST hint of ANY trouble!
Service IS
- going
beyond anything expected to honor requests for my parents, and to
lovingly watch over them as we've been blessed to find from the (all
women execs by the way) staff at Bridle Brook Assisted Living
- my Sales Rep for the credit card machine company calling me to offer assistance - though late, better than never!
- Canadadrugsonline.com
providing great pricing and quick, efficient help for obtaining
medications for parents in the Medicare 'Donut Hole'. Â
I
share these things just to make a point that - along with normal life's
stressful situations, good SERVICE can be SO refreshing!  Please know
that good SERVICE is more than just service - it is honoring your
customers - and that is what is the very, very most important thing for
me in my business. Sew....if EVER, I fail to serve you, respond to you
promptly - PLEASE let me know! Give me the chance to make it right for
you. Life is just too hard to experience anything but the BEST when it
comes to your hobby of sewing/quilting! Â
Inspiration has been awesome in my travels... - A hospice nurse excited to find my patterns/techniques planning to make a jacket that will serve as a 'conversation starter' with her patients.Â
- Customers battling breast cancer excited about the 'escape' that sewing provides to them...and the opportunity to share what i have to offer with them
- An
elderly woman who lost her home a year ago in Galveston - at the
Houston Quilt Festival and enjoying her hobby - despite continual and
non-successful fights with the government and insurance company
- Mary at the Community Quilt Connection in Cincinnati
positively responding to every bump in the road and patiently waiting
for the next location for her wonderful mission of 'educating,
encouraging and providing the art of quilting for future
generations..."Â Read more and be inspired at http://www.communityquiltconnection.org.Â
It was such an honor to be the last 'event for the American Sewing
Guild in this wonderful place. Seeds for thought and prayer for
another time in my life...and perhaps yours - go and read all about
it...You'll be blessed you did!
- Even a design inspiration - the 'design' in a heating grate at the home of one of my helpers! See me 'rubbing' it below...and watch for it in a future jacket design...
My First Talking Pattern - CHOSEN - was a sell-out at
both Chantilly AND Houston! It seems many loved not only the concept,
but also the jackets from this pattern on display and as I wore them.Â
ALL the jackets pictured below are included in the pattern - which I've
now re-printed FOUR times! The success of this concept is encouraging
me to plan on editing/adding to all my popular pattern booklets making
them the same 'talking' format. What is a
'Talking' Pattern? Well...as you go to each photo on the dedicated
website for this pattern, you not only SEE a photo of every step of the
process, but you HEAR me telling you what I did! For a demo - I selected a photo and audio 'frame' for you - listen by clicking on the arrow - all HERE. AND...the
pattern booklet is also self-contained. Though it obviously does.n't
have ALL the photos, I have included the vital photographs in the
booklet. Sew...if you learn by reading, seeing OR hearing - I'm
meeting your learning style needs.
                                                                                               Â
Center Brown Jacket is just an un-tucked, smaller scale version of the
purple jacket - "Cresecent Collar" Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Right Tan Floral Jacket is my test of the sweater version - 'Darted
Collar' to test if it would work with a woven fabric cut on the bias...
Fabric Clearance SALE - this Thurs - Sun: Oct. 29-Nov.1 All but a few of the fabric 'pieces' are offered for sale in whatever yardage increments you desire - but you MUST CALL ME to place your order. 217-398-5166 . If
phone is busy - or I happen to not be 'in' - PLEASE leave a message. I
will honor orders in the sequence in which they are received, updating
yardage available within the item description as quickly as humanly
possible. Â This
way, you are not limited to the regular 1/2 yard increments. This is
clearing out fabric - most of them the Fine Italian Fabrics reduced
drastically in price! The 'hand' you will not believe! TREAT
yourself... Click HERE.
This year with #1 Grandson away from our town, I don't get to make a Halloween Costume - a sad thing.Â
I know this tradition is one that many of you meet with gusto. I'd
LOVE to put together a collage of your creations on my BLOG. Please
send photos to me for that purpose - telling me something about your
little one and the costume!Â
The
vacuum is screaming for some 'exercise' - and perhaps even cooking a
dinner is in order. TOMORROW I SHOP - then I plan to sew between your
fabric order calls on Thurs - Sunday! Oh - and to communicate with me - please do so directly through my email: londa@londas-sewing.com
as it seems the terrible spammers have found my website contact form.Â
I routinely mark most of those as SPAM - not even opening those
horrific characters' messages - thus I'm requesting you contact me
directly as above. Thanks!
Sewing hugs,
PS...Remember that our favorite USA made Comfort Color Sweatshirts are being discontinued...so order quickly if you want to get one of these great sweats in these wonderful colors!
