Double Your Money Italian Fringe Technique
This is a wonderful fringe - TWO WAYS 1.Â
Simply zig zag down, then pull the 3 rows of controlling chain stitches
and it 'explodes' into the wonderful trim you see at the right in the
image. 2. Get DOUBLE yardage - by creating another heading, cutting in half for a trim that is more compact and less 'furry'.       Follow these easy steps:      Â
A. Stitch down the edge opposite the heading with the triple straight
stretch stitch, then also zig zag - you've created a new 'heading'
      B. Rotary cut in half between the remaining 2 rows of chain stitches
      C. Attach to your garment through the headings.
    D. Pull out remaining row of chain stitches.Â
 Â
For example - on Miriam in the book - to completely go around the
neckline, center front, and hemline of jacket and sleeves requires 4
yards - so using 'half' system you need only 2 yards! Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
                       - to go around the
neckline center fronts, and sleeve edges requires 2.75 yards - so half
that is = 1 3/8 yards - so get 1.5 to 'be safe'.Â
Yardage
Guidelines: A Neckline requires 3/4 to 1 yard. Cuffs require 3/4
yard.  Eve in my Book 2 requires 4.5 yards (order quantity would be 9)
which is THEN halved per the above directions to give the required
yardage for the 'fur' collar.
